Dr. Phillip A. Rozeman, M.D.
President, Cardiovascular Consultants
Phillip Rozeman, M.D., is the President and founding physician of Cardiovascular Consultants, a ten-physician single specialty cardiology group with seven office locations throughout Northwest Louisiana. Throughout his career, he has maintained an intense interest in quality improvement efforts in medicine and is active as chief of that program at Willis-Knighton Medical Center – the largest private health system in Louisiana.
Dr. Rozeman has also had leadership roles as Chief of Internal Medicine and Chief of the Medical Staff of the Willis-Knighton Health System, as well as current service as member of the Board of Trustees governing the Willis-Knighton System.
Dr. Rozeman is active in numerous civic and professional organizations with special focus on healthcare and education improvement in Louisiana. In addition to his leadership roles in his cardiology practice and the Willis-Knighton System, he serves as Chairman of the Governor’s Region VII Healthcare Consortium. He took a leadership role in helping establish the first secondary smoke ordinance in Louisiana and, as Medical Director of Northwest Louisiana Red Cross, he led the effort to supply medical services to evacuees of Hurricane Katrina and Rita. For this work he was honored by American Lung Association of Louisiana with the 2006 “Breath of Life” award.
Dr. Rozeman’s involvement in education includes founding the regional education foundation Alliance for Education to increase community involvement in public education in Northwest Louisiana. Through this effort, business and community leaders have been active in supporting excellence and innovation of classroom teaching. Currently, he leads an effort to expand community leadership and build other education foundations around the state. For this work he has received several honors including Distinguished Partner in Education from the Louisiana Department of Education, Louisiana Association of Educators “Friend of Education Award”, and the Blue Cross of Louisiana Angel Award for his efforts to help children in Louisiana.
Dr. Rozeman has received previous recognition for community service from the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce as Business Leader of the Year and the Louisiana State Medical Society Community Service Award in 2004. He has received local recognition as the LSU-Shreveport Alumnus of the Year and Shreveport Bar Association Liberty Bell Award. He was also honored as one of the first ten individuals chosen by The Times as “Community Leaders Who Make A Difference” in the new millenium.
